ABSTRACT

Due to the new remote working conditions driven by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, we extend our previous work on sentiment-enabled business process modeling by including crowdsourcing capabilities with a web interface: SentiProMoWeb. These capabilities enable us to perform sentiment-driven business process re-design method with remote stakeholders from different locations. SentiProMoWeb implements an enterprise social information system to capture the feedback from stakeholders in a crowdsourced manner. We demonstrate the crowdsourcing capabilities of our approach with an illustrative scenario by using our SentiProMoWeb software. © 2022, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

ABSTRACT

In early 2020, the world faced a pandemic of the COVID-19 disease that suddenly changed the way we learn, live and work. It was necessary to ensure the continuity of teaching and learning literally overnight. The university management, teachers and academic staff, students and all administrative services had to adapt to the new situation.Although the impact of the pandemic on higher education institutions was stressful and in most cases there was no contingency plan, higher education systems ensured continuity of the educational process. The system required the reorganization of teaching and learning, significant teacher involvement and additional time, advanced organization and continuous training of teachers. The lessons learned so far should serve as a guide for the future development of education as a whole and through the analysis and application of good solutions to put in the forefront a recovery program and increase investment in education. At the same time, digital transformation is becoming one of the strategic goals of the development strategy of most universities. Paper will present what necessary steps should be taken to achieve digital transformation in education, why continuous teacher training is important and what are the trends and further steps of development. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

ABSTRACT

Crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is a backward step in efforts to achieve gender equality (WEF 2020). Bearing in mind that women entrepreneurs face serious obstacles, especially in less stimulating context, as it is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the question arises – is there a gender difference in the resilience of entrepreneurial companies during the crises caused by COVID-19 pandemic. The justification of the question lies in the knowledge that women entrepreneurs face insufficient or poor quality of information in the existing government or non-government initiatives, poor supply of entrepreneurial capital, unfavourable and inappropriate attitude of banks even in “non-pandemic” times. This article will offer uncommon evidence on the (non) existence of a gender behaviour difference in sense of entrepreneurial companies’ resilience as a part of the broader study of the consequences in the pandemic crisis in entrepreneurial businesses in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The pandemic crisis has an uncertain end and global consequences, so authors will give insights for all stakeholders with a focus on the gender sensitivity when formulating policies to overcome impact of the pandemic crisis, but also a broader contribution to gender aspects of entrepreneurial researches. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

Pandemic impact of COVID 19 virus on entrepreneurs' business operation is unquestionable. Yet there are a number of questions about the extent of that impact on the company's strategic and operational activities and in general the magnitude of entrepreneurial vulnerability during this crisis period. The last and still ongoing crisis caused by COVID 19 virus generated different direct and indirect impacts on entrepreneurial businesses, but the resilience of the businesses itself was different according to managerial capabilities of entrepreneurs and industry type within which some company is running its business. In this paper, we will present explanation of magnitude of the entrepreneurial businesses’ changes caused by COVID 19 pandemic crisis using random sample of 202 entrepreneurial companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with focus on analysing and recognizing the main COVID 19 pandemic impact on the companies’ strategic and operational activities of the entrepreneurs. This paper will examine business changes intensity in sense of redesign of existing or introducing new strategic options, optimizing business operations, product and services assortment changes and using new technology in overcoming current unconventional crisis in which entrepreneurs have to learn to manage business within new circumstances. It is exceptionally important to recognize the pandemic crisis impact on the business of entrepreneurs with a scope to create an empirically valuable basis for focused action of all stakeholders in limited resources context in order to increase entrepreneurs resilience, not only in pandemic circumstences, but in other similar businesscrisissituation also. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
